Erdal was a varsity volleyball team manager for Milan Mader at Lakeville High School before graduating from Lakeville South in 2007.

He went on to attend the University of Minnesota, where he was the setter for the men's club volleyball team for four years.

He went on to coach the women's club volleyball team at Minnesota and led his team to a national championship in 2014.

Erdal has also coached for the 1st Alliance volleyball club in Chicago, Ill., and currently is a club coach for the Mizuno Northern Lights.
