Panthers down Jaguars in straight sets on senior night.

LAKEVILLE, Minn. -- Lakeville North's four seniors all played key roles for the Panthers as they closed out the 2018 regular season with a 25-20, 25-21, 25-14 win over Bloomington Jefferson.

The efforts of the seniors began with Elizabeth Juhnke, a fourth-year starter who recorded her first 20-plus kill match in nearly a month. She tallied 22 kills, including eight in the final set to lead a 11-point final-set win.

Juhnke also added three blocks while hitting .348 on the night.

Setter Amelia Wherland put up 37 assists, added a kill and added three service aces.

Tori Thompson had six kills and hit .556, her ninth match of the season in which she's hit .500 or better.

Macy Winter added seven kills and eight digs.

The second-ranked Panthers, playing their seventh match in six days, struggled early as they only led once in the match's first 12 points. Despite taking the lead for good at 12-11, they were never able to run away from the Jaguars.

The second set saw North trailing 15-13 before mounting a comeback and finishing on a 12-5 run before taking the first two points of the third set and never look back.

Elizabeth Juhnke recorded a three-set season high of 22 kills.

The Panthers will now be off until hosting a Section 1AAA quarterfinal match, Friday, Oct. 26. Seeds and pairings for the section playoffs will be determined Sunday.
