North upends Apple Valley in three sets

Panthers remain tied atop conference standings with win over Eagles.

LAKEVILLE, Minn. -- Second-ranked Lakeville North made quick work of Apple Valley, earning a 25-15, 25-14, 25-8 win in just 54 minutes, to remain in a first-place tie in the South Suburban Conference.

After Eagles opened the match with a service ace by Morgan Stellmach, the Panthers took a 3-1 lead and would not trail again, only being tied at the start of sets two and three, the remainder of the match.

Building momentum through the match, North finished the night on a 9-1 run, with Izzy Fuerst serving for seven of those nine points.

The Panthers hit .567 in the third set to finish at .411 on the nights. Both Tori Thompson (11 kills, .688 percentage) and Elizabeth Juhnke (17 kills, .533 percentage) both hit over .500 and Macy Winter added 12 kills and a .455 attack percentage.

Amelia Wherland record 31 assists in 53 sets, a .585 percentage, and North dug 62 percentage of the Eagles attacks, led by Halle Wolfe's 21 digs.

Next up for the Panthers is another conference game, Thursday, at Farmington, beginning at 7 p.m.


Tori Thompson hit a career-high .688 with 11 kills and no errors in 16 attempts.
