North falls in four as South moves onto state.

ROCHESTER, Minn. -- Lakeville North claimed the opening set but Lakeville South's Jenny Mosser's 38 kills proved too much to overcome as the third-ranked Cougars earned a trip to the Class AAA state tournament with a 23-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20 win over the ninth-ranked Panthers.

North trailed through much of the opening set but got back to within two points, at 16-14, with a side out and they would do that on six of South's final seven serves before a block by Amanda Burger and Tori Thompson, and a kill by Macy Winter snapped a 23-23 tie and gave the Panthers their first set win in eight tries on the season against the Cougars.

Much of North's success was due to the team's play at the net. The Panthers hit .324 with 13 kills and just one error in 37 attack attempts. They also recorded five blocks, with Arianna Barrett recording three, including two solo blocks.

Mosser came out in the second set and hit .583 with eight kills, four of which came as the Cougars grabbed an 8-2 lead and never looked back as they tied the match at 1-1.

Neither team would but up big hitting numbers in the second set. North had seven kills and seven errors while South hit .111 but, once again, it was Mosser who carried the Cougars as she record 11 of their 15 kills.

Still, the Panthers would lead in the set 6-1 early and as late as 15-14 but, with it looking like the teams would battle to the end of the set, Mosser record her eighth kills to side out and give South a 22-19 lead and she made it four consecutive kills as South took a 2-1 lead.

The fourth set was decided, in large part, by South's back row, which recorded 22 digs in the final set as North was able to record just nine kills in 38 attempts.

Juhnke led the Panthers with her 10th double-double of the season as she recorded 18 kills and 14 digs, both of which led North. Barrett had 11 digs, and, along with Kennedy Brady, had six blocks.

Halle Wolfe added 10 blocks and received serve 27 times without an error.

North finishes the season with a record of 21-10, their first 20-win season under third-year head coach Jackie Richter.
