Panthers, Cougars to meet for fourth time.

ROCHESTER, Minn. -- An 11-1 run in the opening set allowed Lakeville North to overcome a deficit a two-point deficit before settling for a seven-point win and, after a second-set loss, the ninth-ranked and third-seeded Panthers won the final two sets to knock off second-seeded Rochester Century, 25-18, 18-25, 25-17, 25-19 in the Section 1AAA semifinals.

What Does It Mean:

The win sends North to the Saturday's section championship match, where the Panthers will meet top-seed and third-ranked Lakeville South for the fourth time this season.

The teams are slated to meet Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, where North will try to win its first match in four tries against the Cougars.

First Set:

The opening set began as a back-and-forth battle with the Panthers finally opening up the score to take a four-point lead, at 11-7, on back-to-back service aces by Halle Wolfe.

Century came back to take a 15-13 lead before an 11-1 run gave North a set point, which the hosts fended off once but was unable to prevent the guests from claiming the first-set win.

Second Set:

North had its worst hitting performance of the night in the second set, hitting -.026.

Still, North had taken a 9-4 lead, forcing Century to call a timeout in order to regroup and, from that point, the hosts slowly crept back into the match, tying the score at 16-16 before taking the lead for good at 17-16 and then finishing the set on a 7-1 run.

Third Set:

The teams battled back-and-forth early on before North went on a six-point run, behind Amanda Burger's serve, and Century would not get closer than four points thereafter.

North turned its hitting game around as the Panthers posted a .303 percentage with Elizabeth Juhnke record four kills in nine attempts and Arianna Barrett had three in five attempts.

They were also 14-for-15 on serve receive, siding out on 13 of Century's 18 serves. Halle Wolfe led North in the back row, going 8-for-8 on her serve receptions while recording four digs in the set.

Fourth Set:

The final stanza saw the hosts take a 5-1 lead but, after North got back to within two points of the lead, at 6-4, the guests sided out on five consecutive Century serves and led to a 14-4 stretch which saw North taken an 18-10 lead, from which the hosts could not recover.

Macy Winter had five kills and five digs in the final set as North won for the 21st time this season.

That's A Wrap:

Both Juhnke and Winter recorded double-doubles on the night with Juhnkle recording 15 kills and 12 digs, and Winter posting 11 and 10. Barrett hit .421 with nine kills and just one error in 19 attempts.

Wolfe led North with 23 digs and received serve 46 times, committing just three errors while, at the service line, the Panthers served a season high .989 with just one error in 92 attempts.

Next Up:

North and South meet for the fourth time with a trip to next week's state tournament on the line.

The Cougars have won all seven sets and three matches the two teams have played thus far this season.

The teams meet for a fourth and final time in 2016 Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m., at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.

Macy Winter posted her third double-double of the season by record 11 kills and 10 digs.
