Youth will clash with experience in this week’s Top Game, as senior-less Eagan takes on an Eden Prairie team laden with upperclassmen.
At 16-2, the Wildcats have proven that their young lineup can go toe-to-toe with the state’s best. Eagan is 6-0 and tied with Rosemount atop the standings in the ultra-competitive South Suburban Conference, which includes four teams ranked in the top 10 in Class 3A.
Eagan came in at No. 2 in the latest Class 3A coaches’ poll and will risk its four-game winning streak in this matchup against the No. 4-3A Eagles (15-6), who bounced back from two consecutive losses with back-to-back wins over No. 8-3A Wayzata and Hopkins in Lake Conference play. Eden Prairie, which lists six juniors and six seniors on 14-player roster, is second in the league standings.
