And the winner is...MN Volleyball Hub top performer revealed

See who fans voted as the top performer from Sept. 12-17.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Volleyball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Ellery DeBoer, Willmar. After suffering just their second loss of the season on Sept. 10, the Cardinals came out last week with wins against Alexandria and St. Cloud Tech. DeBoer, an eighth grade setter, contributed 74 set assists between the two matches — 43 against Alexandria and 31 at St. Cloud Tech — to bring her season total to 275, tied for fifth most across the state.

Top performer candidates

Mesaiya Bettis, Burnsville. The sophomore continued an already impressive season, in which she sits second in the state with 183 kills. Bettis tallied 28 kills in a tight 3-2 loss to Eastview on Sept. 14. The outside hitter added nine digs and a team-high four services aces in the match.

DeBoer, an eighth grade setter, contributed 74 set assists between the two matches — 43 against Alexandria and 31 at St. Cloud Tech — to bring her season total to 275, tied for fifth most across the state.

Else Kunze-Hoeg, Mounds Park Academy. The Panthers handed 3-0 losses to both Breck and Providence Academy last week, with Kunze-Hoeg leading the charge. The junior setter tallied 53 combined set assists — 30 against Breck and 23 at Providence Academy — and added 14 total kills, nine services aces and 10 digs. Kunze-Hoeg’s 38 service aces on the season is third most in the state.

Sonja Laaksonen, Holy Family Catholic. Laaksonen and the Fire gave Hutchinson all they could handle on Sept. 15, losing 3-2 but sending three of the sets to extra points. Laaksonen, a sophomore, recorded 22 kills, 31 digs and two services aces in the match.

Violet Sahlstrom, Minnehaha Academy. The Redhawks are enjoying an undefeated season through 11 matches, only losing four sets thus far this season. The senior setter has highlighted many of the Redhawks’ stat sheets and last week was no different. Sahlstrom recorded 57 assists and eight service aces last week, leading the Redhawks to wins over Breck and Blake.
