Tigers drop three of four matches

On Saturday, the Tigers hosted an invitational which included teams from Isle, Brandon/Evansville, Bertha-Hewitt, KMS, Henning, Osakis, and Eagle Valley.

In the first round of pool play, the Tigers took on Eagle Valley. Both teams battled back and forth but the Tigers eventually fell 1-2 (20-25, 25-20, 16-18).

In the second round, the Tigers took out Isle in a close match 2-1 (26-24, 22-25, 15-13).

In the final round of pool play, the Tigers took on Bertha-Hewitt. The game ended in strange fashion as the final point of the match was awarded to Bertha-Hewitt due to an already used timeout which led to a delay of game. The Tigers fell 2-1 (19-25, 25-22, 14-16).

In the playoff round, the Tigers were taken out by Brandon/Evansville 1-2 (11-25, 25-23, 8-15).

On the day, Abby Aksamit led attackers with 18, Megan Kruzel had 16, Brianna Ludwig had 15, and Andi Buhl, Heidi Sticha, and Haley Piotrowski all finished with eight.

Ludwig led blockers with eight while Aksamit contributed seven. Kruzel and Teal Line had success serving on the day finishing with eight and seven aces, respectively.

Kruzel led the team with 55 digs with Hegseth and Ludwig adding 41 and 35.

Katelyn Middendorf led the passing attack with 37 set assists. Line followed with 24.

“Saturday was a rollercoaster ride. We went three games with each team we faced,” coach Irsfeld said. “We have some positions that need to step up and start getting some notable stats. I believe they can do it. Now I need them to believe it as well.”

The Tigers’ next game will be against Swanville when they host them in another conference match-up.
