The Fergus Falls volleyball team came into the season knowing that it would have to go through Alexandria to be taken seriously as Central Lakes Conference contenders. That is why emotions ran a little higher than normal for an early-season game on Tuesday night when the Otters came to Jefferson High School looking to make a statement. Fergus Falls accomplished that feat in a thriller, persevering for a five-set win (26-24, 18-25, 14-25, 25-15, 16-14) that sent this team into a frenzy after senior Mariah Monke put down the final kill to end a back-and-forth match.
