On August 30, the Browerville Tiger Volleyball team hosted the Bertha-Hewitt Bears. The Tigers were looking to rebound after a 3-1 loss in Menahga in their season opener. The Bears were trying to start their season out with a win. The Tigers would come out on top winning 3-2.
The first game went in the Tigers’ favor as they were able to keep a solid lead throughout and take the first game 25-18.
The second game the Tigers played well and attacked the Bears to take a commanding 25-15 game.
The Bears were not out of it though. In game three they used strategic play and excellent defense to keep the Tigers in check and were able to take a game off the Tigers 25-23.
In the fourth game, both teams went back and forth scoring, but a few Tiger mistakes allowed the Bears to pull a slight lead. The Bears would end up taking game four 25-22.
In a deciding fifth game, the Tigers did not want to wait any longer to end their losing streak against the Bears. They came out aggressive and attacked the Bears to take a deciding game five 15-3.
Megan Kruzel led attackers with 11, Brianna Ludwig added 10, and Heidi Sticha and Abby Aksamit each finished with eight. Makenna Hegseth had a good night finishing with 30 digs while Ludwig added 21. Katelyn Middendorf led the Tigers in set assists with 14.
