Knocked out in the semifinals a year ago, Marshall opened its semifinal match with Concordia Academy on Friday by taking  a 22-18 lead in the first set, only to lose it 26-24.

Deja 2017 all over again?

Not quite. The match was a tight one, but No. 3 seed Marshall won the next three sets 25-23, 25-20, 25-19 over the second-seeded Beacons to advance to the championship Saturday. Its opponent is North Branch, which ousted the Tigers in the semifinals last November.

“Our kids battled for every point,” Marshall coach Dan Westby said. “They scratched, clawed and found a way to get it done.”
