“Yes, I do,” she said. “It’s great to have that kind of depth because everyone has their off days. I just know that each one can be a weapon in every game.”

Those weapons include senior outside hitters Emma Schmidt, who led the team with 17 kills, and powerful Lauren Clark, whose presence at the pins makes every opponent adjust.

Toss in juniors Sami Hilley, Hannah Prasky and Jordan Stalpes -- all of whom had their moments in the match -- and Champlin Park showed the type of talent few teams can equal.

But it all starts with Ashburn, the maestro of the Rebels’ offense.

“Her volleyball I.Q. is so high,” Champlin Park coach John Yunker said. “Yes, she has all those options, but she makes the right decision every time. She recognizes where our advantage is and she does a great job with running the show.”

While Ashburn has made the state tournament for all four of her varsity seasons, it’s not something she takes for granted. It’s just as gratifying now as it was four years ago.

“It’s an exciting time for all of us,” she said. “Now, were just as excited to go out and show what we can do.”
