Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Volleyball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.

Fans' Choice for Top Performer

Amelia Wherland, Lakeville North. Wherland’s been the conductor of Lakeville North's high-powered attack all season, and she ranks eighth in the state in assists (569). The senior setter piled up big numbers again last week, as she notched 31 assists in a 3-0 win over Apple Valley on Oct. 2 and, two days later, 32 in a 3-0 win over Farmington.

Top performer candidates

Rachel Rettmann, Sibley East. The Wolverines went 0-2 during the week, but Rettmann certainly did her part to give them a chance. The senior middle hitter recorded 18 kills, five digs, two solo blocks and two assisted blocks in a 3-1 loss to Jordan on Oct. 2. She backed that up with 12 kills, four service aces and two assisted blocks in a 3-1 loss to Norwood-Young America on Oct. 4.

Carly Wedel, Willmar. Wedel stuffed the stat sheet last week, helping the Cardinals earn two wins and improve to 15-5 on the season. The senior setter was everywhere in her team’s 3-2 win over Brainerd last Tuesday — recording 45 assists, eight kills, five aces, 20 digs and a block. She backed that with 32 assists, 10 digs, an ace and three kills in a 3-0 win over Alexandria on Oct. 4.

Kayla Nye, DeLaSalle. The Islanders lost both of their matches last week, but Nye was a force in both efforts. The senior outside hitter recorded 27 kills in a 3-1 loss to St. Croix Lutheran on Oct. 3 and followed that up with 29 kills in a 3-1 loss to Nova Classical two days later. Nye’s 286 kills are among the most in the state.

Tezra Rudzitis, Legacy Christian. Rudzitis helped Legacy Christian earn two wins last week to improve to 8-13 on the season. The freshman setter was all over the court in a 3-1 win over Spectrum on Oct. 4. She recorded 20 digs, seven aces, 31 assists and seven kills and backed that up with four kills, 22 assists and four aces in a 1-0 win over Calvin Christian the next day.
