First report

Just as expected.

Mayer Lutheran completed a dominant run in the Class 1A state tournament bracket, sweeping Minneota 25-19, 25-16, 25-13 to win its second consecutive championship Saturday at Xcel Energy Center.

The Crusaders, who won the championship without dropping a set, completed a wire-to-wire run as the top team in Class 1A. They were ranked No. 1 in the preseason state rankings and never relinquished that spot. Their only two losses on the season were to the defending champions in the other classes, Maple Lake (2A) and Eagan (3A).

Check back later for more on the match.
