Player of the Week unveiled

See who was voted the best performer for Sept. 25 to Oct. 1.

Player of the Week winner

Blythe Rients, St. Paul AcademyA 6-foot-2 junior, Rients dominated the court with 30 kills and 18 digs on Sept. 26 in a 18-25, 25-18, 16-25, 25-16, 15-10 victory over Providence Academy. She stood out even more in the Spartans' five-set victory over Mounds Park Academy on Sept. 28. The outside hitter has tallied 261 kills on the season.

Player of the Week candidates

Casey Volkmann, Wadena-Deer Creek: The 5-foot-8 senior had 26 kills and 15 digs in a five-game battle over Park Rapids Area on Sept. 25. The Wolverines won 18-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-22 and 15-6. Volkmann has racked up 225 kills so far this season.

Josie Munsterman, Lac qui Parle Valley: Munsterman, a 5-foot-8 sophomore, stood out in the five-set comeback win over Renville County West on Sept. 26. She recorded 32 assists and four kills.

Maizy Jackson, Benilde-St. Margaret’s: Jackson slammed 28 kills and made 10 digs in the Red Knights' 3-1 victory over Chaska on Sept. 28. The 6-foot-0 junior also scored 19 kills on Sept. 26 in a 3-0 sweep over Orono (25-22, 25-11, 25-12).

Hannah McCann, St. Francis: The 5-foot-6 senior proved her versatility on Sept. 28, when she racked up 34 assists, eight digs and eight kills in the Fighting Saints’ 3-1 (16-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-21) victory over Monticello.
