Senior captain Sydney Foss has been a mainstay on New Prague’s volleyball team the past four years.

The outside hitter/defensive specialist has her name etched throughout the school’s record book. Foss is second in school history for season (369) and career kills (894). She is the leader in career digs (648) and ranks second in season and match digs.

Here is a closer look at Foss:

The best movie I’ve seen in the past year? I just saw “The Heat” with Sandra Bullock and it is hilarious. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should definitely go watch it.

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons; “Dream On” by Aerosmith; “Royals’ by Lorde.

What are your three favorite apps? I’m one of the few who don’t have a nice phone, so I don’t really have favorite apps. Ha-ha!

Who do you like to follow the most on Twitter, and why? My friends because they always have the funniest tweets and I like to stay tuned in what they are up to.

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Laid back; blonde; outgoing.

How did you get started playing volleyball? My mom has always played, so she put me in volleyball as soon as possible and I fell in love right away. Even when I was too young to join a team, she was always playing with me on the lawn or in the house.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... excited, intimidated and determined.

What did you work on most in the offseason? What offseason? Thankfully, my life is constant volleyball.

What were your goals before the start of the volleyball season? My goal is to never take any practice for granted and use every chance to improve my skills. Also, break the school record for the number of kills in one game, which is 31. I got 30 last year.

What is your favorite meal prior to a match? I love our team pregame meals, and I really don’t have a favorite because everything is just too good.

To get ready for a match, I ... have to listen to my music and visualize playing in the game. I go through all my movements and what I need to focus on.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? Our team had this one practice during homecoming where we could not focus to save our lives. We literally goofed off and laughed like crazy the whole practice. It was so much fun.

How do you balance school and sports during the year? I just make sure homework comes first when I have free time. Once I have my school stuff done, then I can do whatever. It works pretty well for me.

– and if so, what is it? I have a lot of weird talents, actually, such as knitting, which I do a lot. I also can make this clucking noise with my tongue that’s super loud.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? You don’t always get what you wish for, you get what you work for.
