Top seed blows by Mora to advance to Class 2A semifinals

No. 1-seed Marshall enjoyed a nice warm-up in its first-round match against Mora. The Tigers never trailed in the first set on their way to sweep – 25-11, 25-9, 25-10 – Thursday evening at Xcel Energy Center.

There was little Mora could do to stop Marshall, but it did benefit from some of the Tigers’ miscues to survive late in the sets. The few points weren’t enough to match up with Marshall’s well-rounded effort, though.

Six Tigers contributed four or more kills, led by Kenzie Beekman’s 10 and Sydney Griffin’s nine. Griffin also had 19 assists and Rachel Sanow 11. Hannah Bennett had 10 digs for the Tigers, while Mora’s Stephanie Cannon led her team with six kills and five digs.
