We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.

Other games to keep an eye on

East Ridge vs. Wayzata, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14. No team defeated Wayzata in an abbreviated 2020 season. Will any team upend the No. 1-4A Trojans (9-0) this season? East Ridge has struggled with ranked teams, with the No. 6-4A Raptors (4-4, 1-0) falling most recently to No. 5-4A Shakopee and No. 1-2A Southwest Christian.

Northfield vs. Mankato East, 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 16. This was supposed to be a rebuilding season for No. 10-4A Northfield (5-3, 1-0), but the Raiders are making their presence felt now. Mankato East (3-1, 3-1) sits atop the Big 9 Conference standings.

Lakeville South vs. Shakopee, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14. Lakeville South (3-4) stumbled out of the gate. A victory over No. 5-4A Shakopee (7-0) in the South Suburban Conference opener could turn the Cougars' season around.
