She didn’t get to play a match for Eagan this fall but that didn’t stop the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association from naming the Wildcats’ Kennedi Orr the 2020 Ms. Baden Volleyball Award recipient during an end-of-season virtual presentation on YouTube on Dec. 18.

The 6-foot Orr, a senior setter and right-side hitter, didn’t play for the Wildcats this year due to an ACL injury she suffered prior to the Minnesota State High School League season began. Despite being sidelined, Orr’s accomplishments in her five previous seasons of playing varsity with the Wildcats set her up for the award, which is presented to the state’s top senior player based on the entirety of their prep career.

The Nebraska commit made all-state from 2017-19 and was the Star Tribune’s Metro Player of the Year in 2019. She also received Minnesota Gatorade of the Year honors in 2018 and again last year. She helped Eagan to Class 3A state titles in 2015 and ’16, in addition to guiding the Wildcats to three consecutive runner-up finishes (2017-19).

For her career with Eagan, the top-ranked prospect in the nation according to PrepVolleyball.com recorded 1,055 kills, 2,005 assists, 225 blocks, 133 service aces and 932 digs. As a junior, Orr had 242 kills, 405 assists, 43 blocks and 32 service aces.

The other finalists for Ms. Baden Volleyball were Lauren Crown of Eastview, this fall’s Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year; Kira Fallert from Concordia Academy; Erin Lamb of Stewartville; and Greenway’s Claire Vekich. Maddie Whittington of Stillwater was last year’s Ms. Baden Volleyball winner.
