We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.

Other games to keep an eye on

Southwest Christian vs. Belle Plaine, 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29. No. 6-2A Southwest Christian (4-1, 4-1) takes on No. 7-2A Belle Plaine (4-1, 4-1), a Class 2A state tournament semifinalist a year ago, which is led by senior Lauren Johnson

Medford vs. Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, 7:15 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29. These southern Minnesota rivals were Class 1A state semifinal opponents a year ago, when Waterville-Elysian-Morristown swept Medford in straight sets. Both teams seem to be on a similar trajectory again this year (although there will most likely be no Minnesota State High School League-sanctioned tournament), with No. 9-1A Medford (3-1, 2-1) and No. 2-1A Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (4-0, 3-0) off to sizzling starts.
