Andover's volleyball team erased past troubles against ranked teams by topping an impressive field at the Eastview tournament.

Andover's volleyball team erased past troubles against ranked teams by topping an impressive field at the Eastview tournament.

The No. 6 Huskies swept Stewartville (No. 3, Class 2A) and Shakopee (No. 6, Class 3A) on Friday. The next morning, they knocked off No. 1 Blaine two games to one, gaining a little revenge in the process.

Blaine swept the Huskies 3-0 on Sept. 27. At that point, Andover's loss was its third in as many tries against top-10 opponents in Class 3A.

Settling in after an emotional victory, the Huskies beat No. 8 Eden Prairie to secure the tournament crown and build momentum for the approaching playoffs.

Shakopee coach Matt Busch noted Andover's "impressive all-around play."

Andover, led by future Gopher Karlie Hauer, is seeking its seventh state tournament appearance in eight seasons. Hauer paced the victory against Blaine with 15 kills. Kaytlin Turner's 12 kills led Andover's victory against Eden Prairie.
