Winning the Class 2A, Section 4 tournament has become a routine occurrence for Concordia Academy, as the Beacons have now clinched the section title five times in the past six years.

Top-seeded Concordia Academy defeated No. 2 seed Holy Angels 25-18, 25-20, 25-21 at Bloomington Kennedy High School on Saturday, winning each of its nine total sets played throughout the section playoffs to claim the crown and advance to the Class 2A state tournament.

The Beacons, however, had to weave through a couple rough patches to win the match in straight sets.

“I think that was a super fun game. We came out really strong,” said Beacons junior outside hitter Kira Fallert. “We were all ready for a tough battle. We just tried to play as hard as we could and it ended up paying off.”
