Heron Lake Okabena-Fulda vs. Edgerton

7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 18

Heron Lake Okabena-Fulda has beaten Edgerton each of the past two seasons, and a victory over the Flying Dutchmen this week would leave the Coyotes unbeaten and atop the Red Rock Conference standings.

But no matter the outcome of Tuesday's game, Edgerton will leave this game a winner. The Flying Dutchmen went 1-10 in 2020 but enter this week at 13-9-2, 8-3 in the conference.

The turnaround has been fueled by players such as sophomore Alyda VandeGriend, who leads the state in solo blocks (55) and is among the leaders in total blocks (67). She's second on the team with 196 kills.

Reece Wassink has 256 kills and 238 assists, Mateya Gilbertson has 286 assists and Brenalyn Smit 312 digs.

Both teams enter the Class 1A, Section 3 tournament after this week.
