St. Paul Central vs. St. Paul Highland Park

7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20

Highland Park has ruled the St. Paul City Conference for most of the past decade and can put the final touches on another league championship this week with a victory over Central.

The Class 3A Scots (14-5-2, 10-0) have a one-game lead over Central going into the regular season's final week. Highland Park beat Central 3-1 on Sept. 29 and needs a second victory to avoid a tie with Class 4A Minutemen (15-6, 9-1).

History favors Highland Park, which has won five straight and 12 of the last 13 meetings between the teams.

Seniors Paige Daleiden, Cecelia Rowell and Jada Young lead the Minutemen. Senior Kiyomi Callahan and junior Bella Kottke lead the Scots. They have not played in a state tournament since their third consecutive trip in 1977. Central is seeking its first state tournament berth.
