Concordia Academy needs a victory Tuesday to complete a sweep of the other top teams in the Skyline Conference this season — St. Croix Prep, St. Croix Lutheran and Nova Classical. A victory over Nova Classical could help prepared the No. 4-2A Beacons (14-3, 4-0) to home in on another trip to state, where they have appeared in five of the past six tournaments.
Kenzie Roettger (134 kills), Gia Waters (127 kills, 136 digs) and Shaina Zinter (105 kills, 28 blocks) lead the Beacons' pack of strong-armed hitters. Nora Wilhelm (425 assists) runs the offense and Ava McTeague (142 digs) and Zoee Boog (154 digs) keep the ball in play.
Nova Classical has the record (16-2, 4-1) and a couple of signature victories (formerly ranked Minnetonka and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown), but the Knights are still chasing the likes of Concordia Academy in the Skyline Conference.
Samantha Ball (230 kills, 35 service aces, 161 digs), Allison Ball (396 assists, 40 service aces, 101 digs) and Ava Ball (221 kills, 35 service aces, 136 digs) lead the Knights, who have five players with 22 or more service aces this season.
