Belle Plaine vs.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown

7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown had won five consecutive matches heading into last weekend's Class AA Showcase. The Pirates, however, couldn't keep the surge going at the event, where they lost four consecutive matches (Caledonia, Watertown Mayer, Maple Lake and Burnsville).

Ending that skid could be a tough task for WEM, which welcomes Belle Plaine to town on Tuesday. All four of the Tigers' losses have been against ranked teams, and they'll be ready to avoid falling to another.

The Tigers (7-4, 3-0) have a strong front line with senior outside McKenna Ziemke, senior middle Leah Lenz and junior outside Brianna Swenson. Setter McKenzie Schwichtenberg runs the offense.

Senior middles Riley Sammon and Alex Heuss and senior setter Mikayla Schuster lead the No. 8-2A Pirates (7-7, 4-0).
