St. Clair vs. Cleveland

7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16

St. Clair, winner of 10 straight, looks to stay hot and close the season by wresting at least sole possession of second place in the Valley Conference standings from Cleveland with a victory on Thursday.

Both are looking up at league leader Alden-Conger after each lost to the Knights this season. St. Clair (20-8, 6-1) lost 3-1 on Sept. 25 — their last loss — while the Cleveland was swept on Sept. 18.

The Cyclones and Clippers are in opposite divisions of the Class 2A, Section 2 bracket, and both seem pretty set in their seeding for now, so their match is largely for bragging rights and is a tuneup for the playoffs.

Two Cyclones achieved milestones last weekend in St. Clair’s home tournament: Claire Anderson reached 1,000 career assists, while Cassidy Anderegg hit 1,000 career digs.

Cleveland (16-10, 6-1) turns to Katelyn McCabe and McKenna Robb for production.
