Lakeville North vs. Lakeville South

7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11

It’s the No. 2 versus No. 3 team in Class 3A in a rivalry game with conference and section implications as Lakeville North travels to Lakeville South.

The Panthers (7-1) already own wins over three ranked opponents — No. 5-3A Minnetonka (3-0 on Aug. 23), No. 8-3A East Ridge (3-2 on Aug. 30) and No. 9-3A Northfield (2-1 on Sept. 8) — and last year won a 3-1 home match against the Cougars. Hoping to ride that momentum, No. 2-3A Lakeville North will turn to its big attack duo of Elizabeth Juhnke and Macy Winter, who have combined for 191 kills in seven games, while Amelia Wherland has 209 assists and Halle Wolfe has a team-high 96 digs.

The Panthers will face a Lakeville South (6-1) squad that made it four matches before dropping a set, falling 2-0 to No. 1-3A Champlin Park on Sept. 8 in the Southwest Minnesota Challenge.

Led by Jasmine Mulvihill, who's coming off a 400-kill season, the No. 3-3A Cougars have plenty of help from sophomore setters Ava Moes (142 kills last season) and Jasmine Weidemann, whose 53 regular-season assists were second among her team in 2017.
