Making its return to Class 2A, Marshall makes Class 2A, Section 3 as tightly contested as ever.
Morris-Area/Chokio-Alberta (18-5) comes in as the No. 1 seed in the North. The No. 9-2A Tigers have made the state tournament each of the past two seasons, but have yet to make it out of the quarterfinals.
Paynesville (15-6) comes as the No. 2 seed and defeated No. 3 seed Montevideo (12-10) in the teams' lone meeting during the regular season.
Litchfield (11-16) is the North's No. 4 seed.
In the South, the No. 2-2A Tigers have command of the No. 1 seed. Marshall (20-5) gained plenty of experience going up against Class 3A opponents and defeated a number of them, including Moorhead, which made the Class 3A state tournament in 2016.
Luverne (18-4) comes in as the No. 2 seed and features a veteran-heavy lineup that has nine seniors.
Jackson County Central (17-12), the third seed in the south, comes into the postseason losing five of its past six matches. Pipestone Area (18-8) comes in as the No. 4 seed.
