Concordia Academy at Holy Angels
7 p.m., Day, Oct. 3

Concordia Academy has hit a rough patch since rising to No. 5 in the polls two weeks ago. Six of the No. 8-2A Beacons' losses have come in the last 10 days, including three defeats at the Class A/AA Showcase two weekends ago and losses to Wayzata, Blaine and St. Michael-Albertville last weekend at the Blaine Invitational.

The Beacons (15-8, 6-0) hope to turn that around this week and enter the playoffs with momentum. Concordia Academy is a young team, with freshmen leading the team in kills (Kira Fallert with 149) and set assists (Brooke Weichbrodt with 401). Junior Sarah McTaggert is second in kills (136) and leads in service aces (37).

Holy Angels swept through the Centennial Invitational last Saturday, winning the title with a 2-0 victory over Burnsville. The Stars have lost just twice this season, both at the Class A/AA Showcase two weeks ago, and are tied with Concordia Academy atop the Tri-Metro Conference with each boasting perfect 6-0 records.

With just four matches remaining, a victory could set up the Stars (16-2, 6-0) for a conference title. Senior setter Emma Benz and senior right-side hitter Ellie Koontz anchor Holy Angels' lineup.
