Lakeville North at Eagan
7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3

There is a title at stake in the South Suburban Conference, and these teams remain in contention. Despite trailing Eagan in the polls, Lakeville North is the sole remaining unbeaten team in league play and sits atop the conference standings, just ahead of the second-place Wildcats.

Eagan grabbed the No. 1 spot in the rankings two weeks ago, defeating Lakeville North in the championship match of the Eagle Invitational in Apple Valley. To date, that remains Lakeville North’s only loss.

The Wildcats haven’t dropped a single set since mid-September, sweeping the last eight matches in straight sets, so coach Kathy Gillen’s team appears to be peaking for the playoffs.

Lakeville North recovered from that defeat very nicely last week, beating No. 6-3A Shakopee (3-0 on Sept. 26) and No. 4-3A Lakeville South (3-1 on Sept. 28) in South Suburban matches. In the victory over the Sabers, Elizabeth Juhnke led the way with 13 kills and 11 digs, while Macy Winter and Arianna Barrett added nine each. Juhnke, a 6-foot-1 junior outside hitter, has a team-best 222 kills on the season.
