Lakeville South vs. Wayzata
7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 5

It will be a new era at Lakeville South and Wayzata, two programs that are strong annually but must replace big and talented senior classes. Lakeville South is missing hitter Jenny Mosser, now at UCLA, and libero Halle Johnston, now at Iowa. Wayzata graduated its "big three" of Kate Berg (Minnesota-Duluth), MacKenzie Groechel, and Morgan Baufield (Northern State). Who has reloaded the quickest?

Lakeville South was powered by two of its returning veterans in a season-opening four-set win over Chaska. Middle hitter Jasmine Mulvihill pounded out 24 kills while setter Syd Case dished out 42 set assists for the Cougars (1-0).

Wayzata has also only played one match so far, but fell in three straight sets to No. 3-3A Lakeville North on Aug. 24. The Trojans (0-1) hope to flip that script against Lakeville South Tuesday night at home. Hitters Olivia Roberts and Elizabeth Helmich, and libero Abbie Sheehy are among the few returning players with extensive varsity experience.
