Elk River at Blaine
7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6

Since defeating Minneapolis Washburn in four sets, Elk River (1-2) has struggled to win consecutive sets, falling to Hopkins in three and Stillwater in four. The Elks face a tall order in reversing the trend against a Blaine team they have not defeated in the last five years.

Senior outside hitter Sidney Wentland leads Elk River with 16 kills while junior Erin Davis paces the team with 38 digs. Wentland and Davis will be key for the Elks in this Northwest Suburban Conference matchup.

After falling to East Ridge in the season opener, Blaine cruised past St. Francis in straight sets on Sept. 1.

The Bengals (1-1) boast an experienced 12-player roster highlighted by nine seniors, giving coach Celeste Gorman, the program and the fans hope it translates into postseason success. Blaine lost to Osseo in the quarterfinals of the Class 3A, Section 5 playoffs a year ago.
