Shakopee at Chaska
7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6

Shakopee resides in a crowded South Suburban Conference, which features Class 3A's No. 1-, No. 2- and No. 3-ranked teams, and the No. 7-3A Sabers shouldn't be overlooked after getting off to a flying start.

They notched a four-set win over No. 11-2A Southwest Christian in the opener and swept New Prague, holding the Trojans to just six points in the first set, on Sept. 1 to improve to 2-0.

Chaska enters this nonconference matchup after falling in straight sets to No. 2-3A Prior Lake on Sept. 1. If the No. 11-3A Hawks (0-1) hope to gain ground on Shakopee in a loaded Class 3A, Section 2, they’ll likely rely on 6-foot-1 senior middle hitter Lily Lundquist, who was named all-Metro West Conference last season after racking up 175 kills and 72 blocks.

In addition to carrying significant postseason implications, this game also represents a chance at redemption for Chaska, which fell to Shakopee in five sets in last season's section semifinals.
