Mahtomedi at Hill-Murray

Mahtomedi defeated Mounds View in four sets and swept Park of Cottage Grove in three to begin the season.

Senior outside hitter Julia Pilla leads the Zephyrs (2-0) with 23 kills while sophomore Kyndra Hansen has 19. Junior setter Lauren Hall orchestrates the offense and has a team-high 25 assists. 

Hill-Murray pulled off a substantial upset in the season opener, defeating No. 6-2A Concordia Academy in straight sets. Junior outside hitter Claire Westby had a game-high 17 kills and junior setter Alina Gartner recorded 34 assists in the victory that gave the No. 12-2A Pioneers instant credibility among Class 2A schools.

Hill-Murray (4-2) has since recorded wins over Forest Lake, Alexandria and Chanhassen while falling to Eden Prairie and Bloomington Jefferson.
