Belle Plaine lost just one player from last year's team that lost in five sets to Marshall in the Class 2A state semifinals. The No. 1-2A Tigers (5-0) have lost just one set all season, thanks in large part to the play of junior outside hitter Mariena Hayden, who racked up 15 kills in a win over Tri-City United on Sept. 8. 

Southwest Christian remains the only team to have won a set against Belle Plaine this year, which came in a four-set loss on Sept. 15. The Stars (4-4) have also lost to No. 8-2A Jordan, No. 3-3A Prior Lake and No. 1-1A Bethlehem Academy.
