North headed to section title tilt for second year in a row

Panthers sweep their way to semifinal win.

ROCHESTER, Minn. -- Lakeville North wasn't at its best all night but they made plays when they had to and advanced to the Section 1AAA championship for the second year in a row with a 25-2, 25-17, 25-15 win over Rochester Century.

North managed to wear Century down with its versatile hitting game and a defense which record 56 digs, limiting them to a .104 hitting percentage.

North got at least six kills from its five hitters as Elizabeth Juhnke paced the attack with 13 kills.

Arianna Barrett, who led the team by hitting .438, Kennedy Brady and Macy Winter each had eights kills while Tori Thompson had six.

Seven of North's eight players who saw action recorded a dig with Halle Wolfe recording a match-high 15. Juhnke recorded a double-double with a 14 digs effort while Barrett had nine.

Barrett, Brady, Juhnke and Thompson each had three blocks assists and Thompson had a solo block as well.

Amanda Burger had 27 assists with a .482 setting percentage, while Amelia Wherland added 12 assists.

Next up for second-ranked and top-seeded North is a championship match up with third-seeded Northfield. The teams are slated for a 3 p.m. affair, Saturday, at the Mayo Civic Center with the winner earning a spot in the Class AAA State Championship, Nov. 9-11, at the Xcel Civic Center in St. Paul.


Elizabeth Juhnke recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 13 kills and 14 digs.
