Middles play big role in Panther victory.

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. -- Lakeville North used its middles to take the first two sets and Elizabeth Juhnke had an eight-kill third set as the second-ranked Panthers claimed a share of the South Suburban Conference title with a 25-13, 25-8, 25-14 win at Apple Valley.

North's middles, senior Kennedy Brady, junior Tori Thompson and freshman Abbey Milner, combined for 20 kills on the night and it was Thompson and Brady with six-kill first sets, which helped the Panthers hit .458 in the opening frame, the only set in which they would trail.

Both of Milner's kills came in the first three points of the second set as North took a 4-0. The Panthers committed just one attack error in the set while hitting .500.

They also recorded six of their 13 service errors in the set with Amanda Burger notching three.

Juhnke then dominated the final set, recording eight of her match-high 11 kills while adding two blocks and an ace to account for 10.5 points.

In all, North hit .457 on the night with Juhnke and Thompson both hitting .500 while Brady had 10 kills without an error for a .769 hitting percentage.

Both Panthers setters were over .500 on the night as Burger record 18 assists in 33 sets while Amelia Wherland had 13 assists in 26 attempts.

North also had a season-high 13 services aces, led by Burger and Halle Wolfe, who had four apiece.

North is slated to round out its regular-season schedule tomorrow when the Panthers will be at Bloomington Jefferson for a 7 p.m. match.

Tori Thompson helped the Panthers get off to a fast start with six of her eight kills coming in the first set.
