North remains atop conference standings with win over Eastview

Juhnke's 17 kills lead Panthers to sweep of Lightning

LAKEVILLE, Minn. -- Elizabeth Juhnke recorded the first three points of the match with kills, finished with 17 on the night while hitting .438, and second-ranked Lakeville North remained in a three-way tie atop the South Suburban Conference standings with a 25-12, 25-19, 25-16 win over Eastview.

After Juhnke gave her team a 3-0 lead in the opening set, five consecutive attack errors by the Lightning gave the Panthers a nearly insurmountable 8-0 lead.

Juhnke then record her fourth kill of the match and Amanda Burger served her 10th consecutive with an ace before Eastview got on the scoreboard.

North dominated the opening set, hitting .500 while holding the Lightning to .000.

Eastview came to life in the second as the teams were tied nine times and exchanged the lead five times.

The lead changed hands one final time in the set on a kill by Kennedy Brady and she, Juhnke and Tori Thompson each had two kills in an 8-1 sprint to the finish of the second set by the Panthers.

Macy Winter had five of her nine kills in the final set and, after the teams were tied for a final time, at 10-10, North took off, outscoring Eastview 15-6.

In their final home match of the regular season, the Panthers celebrated seniors Brady, Burger and Arianna Barrett.

The trio didn't disappoint the crowd on their night.

Burger record a double-double with 15 assists and a match-high 12 digs, in addition to serving a perfect 1.000 in 25 attempts.

Brady had seven kills, a pair of digs and two block assists while Barrett chipped in with four kills, four digs, two block assists and received a team-high 14 serves without an error.

Thompson contributed seven kills and four total blocks while libero Halle Wolfe had 10 digs, 13 service receptions without an error and added six assists on second-tempo balls.

Senior co-captains Amanda Burger, Kennedy Brady and Arianna Barrett played the final regular-season home match of their careers.

Thompson contributed seven kills and four total blocks while libero Halle Wolfe had 10 digs, 13 service receptions without an error and added six assists on second-tempo balls.

The Panthers get less than a 24-hour respite as they host the annual Todd L. Bachman Invitational, Friday and Saturday.

In pool play, North opens with Hill-Murray at 5 p.m. Friday and follows that by taking on Cretin-Derham Hall in a second match, scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, the Panthers open play at 9 a.m. by taking on Eden Prairie before moving into bracket play for their final two matches of the day.
