Panthers claim 3-0 win in first of seven matches.

LAKEVILLE, Minn. -- Lakeville North's hitters combined for a .396 hitting percentage and setter Amanda Burger and Amelia Wherland combined 40 assists as the Panthers disposed of Farmington, 25-16, 25-9, 25-10.

It was a big night for the Panthers' front row as five players recorded five or more kills and all hit over .290 on the night.

However, it was a slow start for the second-ranked team in the state.

The Tigers took a quick 3-0 lead in the opening set and would not relinquish the lead until North came back to take a 10-9 lead.

The teams would battle until Farmington came back to tie the score at 16-16. But, from there, is was all North as Halle Wolfe served out the set with Tori Thompson recording three kills and a block assist in the final eight points.

After getting their game together late in the opening set, North never looked back. They were tied at 1-1 in the second set but would not trail the rest of the way.

Up front, Kennedy Brady, Elizabeth Juhnke and Macy Winter all had 11 kills with Brady hitting .526 and Winter .500.

Meanwhile, Amanda Burger, with 25, and Amelia Wherland, 15, combined for a .488 setting percentage.

North committed just two service errors in 74 serves, with Burger recording three aces and Wolfe two while, on the flip side, the Panthers did not have a service reception.

Wolfe also had 18 digs while Burger, Winter, Juhnke and Arianna Barrett each had seven.

North closes out its regular-season home schedule, Thursday, when its hosts Eastview on Senior Night in a 7 p.m. match.

Friday and Saturday, the Panthers will host the annual Bachman Invitational, with North opening tournament play with a 5 p.m. match versus class AA No. 8 Hill-Murray, followed by a 7:30 p.m.  match with Cretin-Derham Hall.

Amanda Burger had 25 assists and a .556 setting percentage.
