TEN TO WATCH

Ten metro teams set to make noise this season:

1. Eagan: Defending champs reload. Kennedi Orr is state’s best freshman.

2. Champlin Park: No Sydney Hilley, but the cupboard is far from bare. Izzy Ashburn is the Rebels’ next great setter.

3. Prior Lake: Star libero C.C. McGraw is hobbled by an ankle injury.

4. Lakeville North: The Panthers are bouncing back from some uncharacteristic lean years.

5. Stillwater: Tough up front with Mikayla Gjerde, Rachel Houle and Maddie Whittington.

6. Hopkins: Setter Tara Lee will spread the ball around with the graduation of Jaz Martin.

7. Shakopee: Sabers paced by versatile junior Rachel Kilkelly.

8. East Ridge: Plenty of talent ready to be molded by new coach Steve Anderson.

9. North St. Paul: Anderson’s previous team still has plenty left, led by OH Sophie Cave.

10. Elk River: The Elks have a veteran lineup to build on 2016, when they earned the top seed in Class 3A, Section 7.

Others: Blaine, Wayzata, Mayer Lutheran (1A), Waconia, Southwest Christian (2A), North Branch (2A).
