Sept. 13: The Jaguars and Stars have losing records, but the rivals' history adds weight to this matchup.

Jordan may be off to relatively slow start, but that should not be a cause of concern among its fans.

The Jaguars (2-3), ranked No. 11 in the Class 2A state coaches' poll, started last season 1-4 before winning 17 of their next 21 matches and finishing second in the Minnesota River Conference behind eventual state champion Belle Plaine.

Recently, Jordan cruised past league rival Tri-City United 25-15, 25-22, 21-25, 25-14 and will bring that winning momentum to Southwest Christian High School on Tuesday.

The No. 12-2A Stars (1-3) also enter this matchup with a sub-.500 mark, having run a gauntlet of ranked opponents -- No. 17-3A Rosemount, No. 6-3A Shakopee and No. 1-1A Bethlehem Academy -- to start this season.

This matchup carries extra weight, with the outcome likely impacting postseason seeding. These teams met in the second-round of the Class 2A, Section 2 tournament a year ago, a game swept by the Jaguars.

With two talented teams eager to find a victory and jumpstart a long winning streak, this is our Top Game of the Week.
