Meet the Star Tribune All-Metro volleyball team

VOLLEYBALL FIRST TEAM

BRITTANY MCLEAN

Rosemount, sr., OH

College choice: Minnesota

Club: Northern Lights

Athletic and smooth, the five-year varsity starter accounted for nearly 30 percent of the Rosemount’s offense. Through the regular season, she had 357 kills with a kill percentage of .459. A two-time All-Metro selection, she’s the state’s only senior who has committed to the Gophers.

 

 

BRIE ORR

Eagan, jr., S/RH

College choice: Iowa

Club: Northern Lights

A three-year starter for the Wildcats, her strength is her versatility. Terrific defensively and adept at taking bad passes and turning them into good sets. Currently has 360 set assists, 286 kills (with a .547 kill percentage) and 186 digs. Twice named the all-state tournament team.

 

 

ELLA FRANCIS

Prior Lake, sr., OH

College choice: Illinois State

Club: Mizuno M1

Stepped up to lead the Lakers’ offense when Lara Schultz and Olivia Spanton went out because of injuries. A six-rotation player who had 388 kills (with a hitting efficiency of .384) during the regular season and was second on the team in digs with 212. “A dynamic hitter with every shot,” a rival coach said.

 

SYDNEY HILLEY

Champlin Park, jr., S/OH

College choice: Wisconsin

Club: Minnesota Select

The Metro Player of the Year is one reason the Rebels are 24-3, the best record in team history. She has 407 kills, 390 set assists and 207 digs. Played for Team USA that finished second at the World Under-18 Championships in Lima, Peru. Named national sophomore of the year in 2014 by PrepVolleyball.com.

TINA BOE

Osseo, jr., MB

College choice: Denver

Club: Minnesota Select

A dominant force in the middle as a blocker and an attacker. Set a school record with 31 kills in the Class 3A, Section 5 quarterfinals. Leads the state in total blocks with 112 and is among the top 10 in kills with 395.

 

 

 

 

JENNY MOSSER

Lakeville South, jr., OH

College choice: UCLA

Club: Minnesota Select

The state’s most athletic player. An explosive leaper with a 35-inch vertical, she is second in the state in kills with 491 and strong defensively with 275 digs. Her ability to elevate and her powerful arm swing make her intimidating on the attack. “At times, she’s almost unstoppable,” one coach said.
