Eastview’s volleyball team has struggled in Taylor Schile’s final season. That hasn’t kept the senior from remaining upbeat.

Schile is the libero for the Lightning, which entered the final week of the regular season with an overall record of 7-19. She is in her fifth season as a member of the varsity squad.

“Taylor makes everyone’s job easier,” Eastview coach Ted Reiff said. He is in his first season at the helm of the program, replacing Becky Egan.

Here is a closer look at Schile:

The best movie I’ve seen in the last year? “Iron Man 3.”

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” by Jake Owen; “Beat This Summer” by Brad Paisley; “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight” by Randy Houser.

What are your favorite apps? Twitter; Instagram; Facebook.

Who do you like to follow the most on Twitter, and why? Jason Aldean, because I love his music and I love country.

Three words my teammates or friends might use to describe me? Outgoing; passionate; caring.

How did you get started playing volleyball? I started playing volleyball because my older sisters did, so I would always go to her games and watch. I just learned from that.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... scared and terrified. I was only in eighth grade and everyone seemed so intimidating.

What did you work on prior to the start of the season? Conditioning, speed and quickness, and other skills.

What were your goals prior to the start of the volleyball season? Beat my total digs from last year, support my teammates and be a good leader.

To get ready for a match, I ... listen to pump-up music and visualize what the game will be like.

What is your favorite meal before a match? My favorite meal the night before a game is pasta, and my meal right before the game is Subway.

What are your most memorable moments as a high school athlete? Being able to play with my older sister, Kelsey, for two years on varsity, beating Wayzata 26-24, 26-24, 27-25 last year in their gym, and going over 1,500 digs in my high school career.

If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be? To have a longer season because it always seems to go too fast.

How do you balance school and sports during the year? I balance school and sports by managing my time, using class time well and just using any extra time to finish my homework.

Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why? The Denver Broncos because I love Peyton Manning. He’s the best quarterback ever.

In 10 years, I hope I’ve … graduated from college, and have a job I love.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? “Always expect the unexpected, and be prepared for anything.”
