Jessen

Jessen, a senior setter/outside hitter for the Warriors, registered her 1,000th career assist during the Henry Sibley tournament. She also had 89 kills, 14 service aces and 12 blocks in five victories in that tournament. A closer look at Jessen:

The best movie I’ve seen in the last year? The movie about Jackie Robinson, “42.”

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me: Confident, encouraging, leader.

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are … “Courageous” by Casting Crowns; “Oceans” by Hillsong United; “Easy” by Rascal Flatts.

At my first varsity practice, I felt … nervous, but excited to be the starting setter as an eighth-grader.

What is your favorite meal before a match? Pasta and fruit.

How do you balance school and sports during the year? By staying organized and planning ahead each week. These are key to me being successful on the court and to keeping my 3.78 GPA in the classroom.

When you have time off during vacation, what do you like to do? I like to scuba dive, downhill ski in Utah, hunt and travel with my family.

Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why? The University of South Dakota Coyotes. I’m graduating early and heading there in three months.

– and if so, what is it? I can fold my top and bottom lips to opposite sides of my mouth!

In 10 years, I hope I’m … working as a middle-school literature teacher in the Twin Cities and married with three children. Also, I hope to be coaching varsity volleyball and a club team like Northern Lights, where I played for four years.
