Dayna Dols is a senior captain for Northfield’s volleyball team this season. She is the setter for the Raiders.

Northfield is hovering around the .500 mark after opening the season with five consecutive victories.

Here is a closer look at Dols:

The best movie I’ve seen in the last year? “We’re The Millers.” It’s honestly one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time.

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... “Wop” by J. Dash; “We Own It” by Wiz Khalifa Ft 2 Chainz; “Imma Shine” by Youngbloodz. They are great pump-up songs.

What are your three favorite apps? Hudl; Twitter; Wanelo.

Who do you like to follow the most on Twitter, and why? I like to follow @FRIENDSshowsays the most on Twitter because that has been my favorite show since I was in middle school.

Three words my teammates might use to describe me? Leader, dedicated and intense, because this volleyball team means the world to me.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... really excited and proud of myself because I had worked really hard to get there and I had reached my goal.

What did you work on most before the start of the season? In the offseason, I love playing volleyball in my back yard. The volleyball net and my sister Anna, the libero on our team, makes it perfect because we both love to challenge each other. I also go and lift weights whenever I can because I love the feeling after a good workout.

What are your goals for the remainder of the volleyball season? My goal is to go to state with my team. They are truly the best team someone could have. Everyone always puts in 100 percent and does whatever they can to help the team succeed.

What is your favorite meal before a match? Any type of pasta.

To get ready for a match, I ... listen to pump-up songs because it makes me really intense and excited.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? My most memorable moment as a high school athlete would be going to AAU nationals with my team. It made our team so much stronger and was an amazing way to go into our fall season.

How do you balance school and sports during the year? I balance school and sports by staying organized, so I know what is due and when. I also try to get homework done before our matches, so I don’t have to stay up late doing homework. I am one of those players who can’t function in a match if I am overly tired, so it’s really important for me to get it done beforehand.

Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why? The University of Minnesota volleyball team. They’re all amazing athletes and really inspiring.

In 10 years, I hope I’m … a physical therapist for athletes because I would like to work with anything sports-related.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? The best sports advice I’ve ever received from a coach is that as a setter my job is to make the hitters look good. So it’s very important to me that I have a good relationship with every one of my hitters. When they do good, I know I’ve done my job.
