Wildcats too much for Lakeville South in close match

On Thursday, September 19, Lakeville South battled Eagan in one of the Cougar’s closest matches of the season, losing 2-3. The final scores of the night were 25-18, 30-32, 25-19, 15-25, and 8-15. Both teams had an amazing night, but the Eagan Wildcats came out on top.

The Wildcats have a dynamic and well-rounded team, with an undefeated in-conference record and a roster full of impressive players including Taylr McNeil, her sister Maddie McNeil, and freshman Brie Orr who were standouts Thursday.

Taylr McNeil, a senior and outside hitter for Eagan, continues to show her skills as she leads her team through an undefeated season. She has committed to South Carolina, where she will play along her older sister Kellie McNeil. By her side is her younger sister Maddie, a junior setter. Last was freshman Brie Orr. She plays both setter and outside hitter for the Wildcats. Last summer, Orr received the All-American reward during Volleyball Junior Nationals in Florida for the 14 Open Division.

The Cougars lost the second game 30-32, but brought it back for game three. The Cougars contagious attitude only added to the intensity of the match. Leaders of the night were setter Maddie Johnston, with 24 set assists, and Sammi Kremer, with 12 kills and 42 attack attempts.

The Cougar's next game will be at Bloomington Jefferson on Tuesday, September 24. Eagan's next game is on Tuesday at home against Bloomington Kennedy.
