Lakeville South's 3-0 loss against Eden Prairie on Thursday, Sept. 5 was rough for the Cougars. In both the first and second games the Cougars only managed 10 points but they went out with a close score of 20-25 in the final game of the night.

Eden Prairie seemed to have no apparent weaknesses with a collection of good serves, incredible defense, and a variety of offensive plays.

Service leaders for the Eagles were Aulora Campbell and Ashley Brueggman. Although there were seemingly few aces between the two Eagles, their serves made it hard for the Cougars to run their usual fast-paced offense.

Defensively, Eden Prairie was lead by junior libero Lauren Mattison. Mattison was able to pick up nearly every hit the Cougars tried to put down and greatly contributed to the speed of the Eagles' game.

The most important factor in the Eagles' win was their variety of offensive plays. Not only did they continually switch it up in the front row, but back row hits were also included, which proved to be an effective way to score points.

Through it all, the Cougars still had a very aggressive game, with over 70 attack attempts.

Lakeville South's next game will be next on Tuesday, Sept. 10 where the Cougars will host Minneapolis Southwest. Eden Prairie's next game is also on Tuesday, where the Eagles will be at Apple Valley.
