The 2011 all-metro volleyball team. From left-to-right: Leigh Pudwill, Monica Turner, Karlie Hauer, Julia Doyle (Player of the Year), Taylr McNeil, and Alyssa Goehner

Leigh Pudwill | Centennial | Senior | Outside hitter

Skilled and versatile, she can control a game whether hitting from the front row or playing defense in the back row. Had 553 kills and 380 digs and led Centennial to a 22-8 record despite being only one of three seniors on the roster. Headed to the University of Northern Iowa.

Monica Turner | Lakeville South | Senior | Middle blocker

One of the strongest players in the state and at 6-2, she can hit through even the toughest block. Also intimidating on defense with a very strong blocking presence at the net. Collected 232 kills, 68 blocks and 67 digs despite rarely playing in the back row. Will play for Minnesota Duluth.

Karlie Hauer | Andover | Senior | Outside hitter

A do-it-all kind of player who led the Huskies to their fifth consecutive state tournament berth. Equally adept at hitting with nearly 400 kills and defense (335 digs, 60 blocks). An exception leaper who surpassed 1,000 career kills this season. Will play at the University of Minnesota next year.

Julia Doyle | Wayzata | Senior | Setter

The University of Oklahoma-bound setter is a two-time All-Metro selection. She is considered the top setter in the metropolitan area, adept at running an offense and turning difficult passes into workable sets. At 6-2, her height makes her an offensive weapon. Had 841 set assists and 158 kills this season.

Taylr McNeil | Eagan | Sophomore | Outside hitter

A two-time All-Metro selection despite being only a sophomore. Gave a verbal commitment to Minnesota during her freshman season. A powerful and accurate hitter who was among the metro leaders in kills with nearly 500. Great court sense, athletic and sees the court extremely well.

Alyssa Goehner | Lakeville North | Sophomore | Outside hitter

A heady all-around player with terrific vision. Paced the Panthers to the Class 3A, Section 1 championship. Deceptively strong and can hit with force, yet is also the teams' best passer. A go-to player with a knack for coming up big in clutch situations. A whopping 621 kills to date.
