The Cardinals lost their first set of the year, but still beat Osakis 3-1

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the Upsala Cardinals volleyball team hosted the Osakis Silverstreaks.

The Cardinals have been playing well all year long, not letting any team take a set off of them. Osakis entered the match hungry for a win against a first place team. The Cardinals stumbled in one set but were still able to take down the Silverstreaks for another conference win 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-15, 25-11).

“Osakis did a nice job of hitting around our block, especially in the middle,” head coach Ken Solarz said. “Fortunately our back row was able to dig most of them and allow us to keep an attack going.”

Aimee Pelzer led the team with 19 kills, 18 set assists, and 23 digs. MaKenna Peterson also played well finishing with 18 kills and 21 digs.

The Cardinals will play Monday when they host Onamia at 7:30 p.m.
